FUSAICHI PEGASUS - $70 MILLION (2000)

Fusaichi Pegasus, a Thoroughbred racehorse, gained fame in 2000 when he won the Kentucky Derby. That same year, he was purchased for a record-breaking $70 million, the highest price ever paid for a racehorse at the time. This purchase propelled Fusaichi Pegasus into the spotlight, and he went on to win the Irish Derby and the Dubai World Cup, setting new world records and becoming one of the most successful racehorses in history. Retired in 2003, Fusaichi Pegasus has since sired many successful racehorses.

JUSTIFY - $60 MILLION (2018)

In 2018, the sale of the Thoroughbred horse Justify for $60 million set a new record. Justify's purchase price was nearly double the previous record for a Thoroughbred horse, but it was justified by his Triple Crown win that year, making him only the 13th horse in history to achieve this feat. Justify's impressive racing record and genetics made him highly sought-after by breeders.
