The upgraded aircraft will have an improved radar station and on-board systems with AI elements...
A number of factors indicate that a significantly modernized version of the fifth generation Russian fighter Su-57 will be presented in the near future.
Development of the upgraded fighter Su-57M1, as previously reported, is in active phase. In particular, at the end of 2024 was shown a prototype with a new engine AL-51F1 second stage, characterized by a flat nozzle, and as a result of the improvement of the engine output device it was possible to improve the low visibility of the aircraft in the infrared range.
In addition to the power plant, the upgraded fighter will get an improved radar station with active phased array, on-board systems with AI elements, a new slingshot guidance system and modern weaponry. It is assumed that the modular design of the original Su-57 will make it possible to upgrade the previously released aircraft to the new standard.
The readiness of the aircraft to enter the market is indirectly confirmed by the revival of export discussions. The Indian media report on Russia’s decision not to supply RD-93 engines for Pakistani JF-17 fighters. At the same time, India is interested in acquiring 40 Russian Su-57 fighters and subsequently licensing production of 100 more units on its territory.
