Armie Hammer will star in his first film since being accused of sexualised violence. The actor will star in the western Frontier Crucible.
Hammer will play one of the key roles in the film. Also in the cast includes Thomas Jane (‘Predator’), Miles Clohessy (‘The Last Ferry’), Eli Brown (‘Run, Hide, Strike’), Eddie Spears (‘Yellowstone’) and Zane Holtz (‘Girl in a Box’).
The film is set in Arizona in the 1870s. A former soldier (Clohessy) with a tragic past enters into an uneasy alliance with three outlaws (Jane, Hammer and Jonah Kagen), a bewitching woman (Mary Stickley) and her wounded husband (Brown) as they try to survive in the Wild West.
The project will be produced by Dallas Sonnier (‘Bone Tomahawk,’ ‘Rolled in Asphalt’). Filming is set to begin next month in Monument Valley, Arizona.
Hammer's Hollywood career went downhill in 2021 when several women accused the actor of abuse. Hammer denied all the allegations, but was forced to drop out of several projects, and was himself dropped by his agent and publicist. Investigations by the Los Angeles County District Attorney and police did not result in criminal charges against Hammer due to insufficient evidence.
The day before, the star of ‘The Social Network,’ ‘The Lone Ranger’ and ‘Call Me By Your Name’ launched The Armie HammerTime Podcast. The first guest on the show was actor Tom Arnold.
Together, they discussed struggles with addiction, rehab, and Hammer's accusations of cannibalism. ‘These allegations have made so much noise. Like, what headline would get more attention? ‘Armie Hammer is a cannibal’, or ‘Armie Hammer may not be a cannibal’?’ - the actor joked.
