Crystal skulls. Who made them and why ?

Crystal skulls, found already in different parts of the planet, most often look like human skulls and are of appropriate size, and they are most often made of quartz (rock crystal).

It is said that they were first created by the Maya, but the accuracy of the work done calls this claim into question. If we take into account the tools used by the Maya, it would take hundreds of years or ultra-modern technology, which even today not every country has.

Either way most of the known skulls are attributed to them. After all, they were most often found in Central America under the ruins of the Aztecs and Mayans since the mid-19th century.

This, in turn, gave rise to myths and legends. Some of them are associated with the supernatural abilities that these skulls possess, others tell about them as repositories of mysterious knowledge.

The most famous and most mysterious of these skulls is the “Skull of Doom” or “Skull of Anna”, called in English “Skull of Doom”.

It was first described in 1943 by the English archaeologist Frederick Albert Mitchell-Hedges. He said it was his daughter Anna's discovery in 1924 (others say it was actually 1927) during an expedition to Mayan ruins in Lubaantun to the “place of fallen stones” in Belize.

Although the real goal was to search for Atlantis, of which, by the way, they found no traces. This expedition to the jungle area known as Punta Gorda was one of the most successful. In addition to the skull, various ceramic objects and bones were found.

Mitchell-Hedges claimed that the main find was discovered in one of the sanctuaries near an altar.

“After we opened the Skull's vault, a series of supernatural phenomena occurred. All three hundred people who worked with them on the excavation felt an invisible force that emanated from the Skull. Many began to kneel before him and kiss him. And when he was brought into the light, something like an eclipse occurred. The locals immediately recognized the Skull as the image of their ancestral god and prayed before it,” Mitchell-Hedges later recounted.

Researchers of the Skull of Destiny agree that it is anatomically perfect. Its small size and characteristic features suggest that it is probably a female skull.

Experts at the British Museum, where the skull is now kept, believe that the Skull of Anna was created in about 1300-1400 AD. But indigenous people who were on the expedition with Mitchell-Hedges to Lubaantun said the Skull of Destiny is about 3,600 years old.

There are those who believe that if they are not an alien creation, the people of Atlantis may have created them. Another theory says they were created by a civilization that lives or lived in the center of the Earth.

One of the main versions about the purpose of these objects is that they can be used to see the future. It is believed that they may have been used as crystal ball-like instruments for the purpose of divination and fortune-telling.

As we continue to examine the “British skull”, we will see that it has teeth and a movable jaw, which give it even more realism. Such precision and accuracy raises even more questions for the enigmatic sculptor who created it from a solid piece of rock crystal.

In 1970, Mitchell-Hedges delivered the skull to Hewlett Packard Laboratories for detailed examination, which revealed that the Skull had been carved against the natural axis of the crystal, something that modern sculptors would not have done, as it would have destroyed the material.

Such findings indicate that a laser was used to create it. It was also found that no metal tools were used, and the process presumably took several hundred years.

There is a version that several generations of people one after another, carefully kept and perfected the Skull with ordinary tools, which seems fantastic.

There are a total of 13 skulls similar to the Mitchell-Hedges skull in the world, almost all of them in private collections.

Many people say that around each of them, including the skull, which fell into the British Museum unexplained phenomena occurred: the movement of objects, unexplained aromas and other events that supposedly occur because of the hidden powers of the crystal skull.

It is for this reason that the skull in the British Museum used to be covered at night with a special cloth. Since the cleaners, who most often reported paranormal phenomena, were simply afraid to approach it after sunset.

It is impossible not to mention the legend of “Cursed Skulls”, which says that there are 13 crystal skulls in the world and when all of them will be discovered and gathered together, there will be peace on Earth. These skulls will pass on to the people all the hidden and mysterious knowledge.

But why “cursed,” you ask?

Until they are united, they will not be able to help in any way, but, on the contrary, will bring only misfortunes and troubles.

Attempts to connect the found skulls have not yet, for whatever reason, been made.

Today, “crystal skulls” are produced and sold around the world more as souvenirs. While the original skulls are talked about less and less and gradually forgotten. But clairvoyants and fortune tellers continue to treat them as the most important artifacts of mankind and hope to someday open the future with their help.

Meanwhile, the mystery of the Crystal Skulls remains open, as their origin remains unknown and questions remain unanswered. Do they possess magical powers? Were they used in rituals? Who created them and by what technology? For now, this is unknown.
