Lionsgate, the studio behind the Saw franchise, will screen the Outlast series of horror games.
The adaptation will be handled by horror film producer Roy Lee (‘It’, ‘The Call’, ‘Curse’). Working on the script will be J.T. Petty, who wrote the story for Outlast, Outlast 2 and The Outlast Trials.
‘When Outlast came out in 2012, it changed the landscape of horror games, setting a new standard for immersion in the genre. Its deep story provided the perfect foundation for a film that delves into psychological and physical horror,’ commented Roy Lee.
Outlast is a series of survival horror games developed by independent Canadian studio Red Barrels. Unlike most games of the genre, in Outlast the hero is unarmed and cannot fight enemies, but must run away and hide from them. The main weapon of the character is a video camera with night vision mode, which allows you to take notes and navigate in dark rooms.
