American actress Maika Monroe, known for the films ‘It’ and ‘Soul Collector’, will star in the horror ‘Brides’. It will be directed by the creator of the thriller ‘The Watcher’ Chloe Okuno.
The picture is currently in the development stage. Shooting is planned to begin in the spring of 2025. The film, like ‘Watching’, will be filmed on the script written by Okuno.
The action tape will unfold in Italy 60-ies. The heroine will be a young woman Sally Bishop, who stays with her husband in a remote villa to recover from a nervous breakdown.
Sally meets the owner of the house - a mysterious count, who takes a special interest in her. He, as it turns out, has arranged for himself in the Italian countryside ‘ideal, cruel Eden of vampire brides’.
Distributors of the future tape, which is described as ‘gothic, glamorous and bloody’, will be FilmNation Entertainment and UTA Independent Film Group. According to the authors of the horror film, it will ‘turn Bram Stoker's narrative upside down, exploring the struggle between societal repression and carnal desire’.
‘‘Brides’ intends to redefine the horror genre with a unique blend of feminist themes and Chloe Okuno's monstrous imagery. The script is dynamic and disturbing in the best way. Chloe always brings so much creepiness and complexity to her characters,’ said producer Anthony Bregman.
He will work on the film together with Stephanie Aspiazu and production company Likely Store.
