Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has asked the USA for Tomahawk missiles with a range of 2,400 kilometres in a secret part of the ‘victory plan’.
According to unnamed US officials, there remained dissatisfied with Zelensky's ‘victory plan’ because it is completely dependent on Western aid. ‘A telling example: in one part of the [‘victory plan’], which has not been made public, Zelensky proposed a ‘non-nuclear deterrence package’ in which Ukraine would receive Tomahawk missiles, which a senior U.S. official said was a completely impossible request,’ the publication wrote.
The range of Tomahawk missiles is 2,400 kilometres, which is seven times greater than the range of ATACMS missiles. According to the newspaper, the US has transferred a limited number of such systems to Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukraine reported the launch of the first German Rheinmetall plant for the production of weapons in the country. It is planned that the plant will produce the first batch of Lynx infantry fighting vehicles by the end of this year.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said the facility is a legitimate target for the Russian Armed Forces.
