Peter, a hotelier and owner of a tinned food business empire, was unfortunately suffering from a deadly motor neuron disease. This illness caused him to endure some of the most difficult days of his life. According to his friends, Peter was incredibly lonely and rarely shared his struggles with others. Eventually, he made the decision to end his own life at the Dignitas clinic, a facility where individuals with terminal illnesses can receive assisted deaths from medical professionals. In his younger years, Peter worked as a pea picker before becoming a pilot in South Africa and eventually finding success as a businessman. At the time of his death, he was accompanied by his wife and the staff at Dignitas.

The founder of Taiwan's Polaris group, a highly respected brokerage firm, tragically took his own life. Rumors circulated about his involvement in insider trading with a university official, tarnishing his reputation. In 2008, he mysteriously disappeared, prompting his wife and Polaris staff to seek help from the police and the public in locating him. Sadly, his lifeless body was discovered two days later on the outlying islands. He was 56 years old.

He had risen to the position of Chief Financial Officer and had also established a foundation to promote culture in various nations. Additionally, he served as director for three different charities. His bank was taken over by the Royal Bank of Scotland, resulting in significant losses. He owned six licensed guns and rifles, and one day he went missing. The police later found his body, which was identified by his grieving family.
