Russian users of the ‘Gosuslugi’ portal have started receiving alerts asking them to change the Gmail mail tied to their account to any other, reported Russian Media.
"You use the mail @gmail.com to access “Gosuslugi”. It receives important messages and letters for password recovery. <...> Protect your account: replace the mail @gmail.com to any other", - stated in the notice.
As an alternative option, the portal offers a mailbox @xmail.ru, which has been integrated with ‘Gosuslugi’.
It is explained that such measures are taken in connection with the recent decision of Google to restrict the creation of new accounts by Russian users. SMS notifications may stop coming for previously registered accounts as well.
Earlier it became known that more than 200 thousand Russians moved their e-mail from the service Gmail to Xmail.
