In India, there is a mystical lake Roopkund (“lake of skeletons”). It is located at a high altitude in the Himalayan mountains (5029 meters). Every year, after the snow melts, the shores of the lake are strewn with hundreds of skeletons. In the 19th century, this kind of “cemetery” was stumbled by pilgrims going to the holy place Homkund. But scientists were able to see the inaccessible lake only in 1942. Subsequently, entire expeditions of researchers studied the mysterious place.

About six hundred skeletons were found along the shores of the reservoir. Most of them were male. What kind of carnage took place here about 800 years ago? Researchers have been solving this riddle for a long time. It will not be possible to find out who these people were and where they were going. But how they died is known – they were killed by hail the size of a cricket ball (D = 7 cm). The place was open, and people had nowhere to hide. Some of them were dragged into the lake, and the bulk of the dead remained on the shore.

7. Hotel El Hotel del Salto

In the Colombian hinterland of San Antonio del Tequendama, there is the mystical Hotel Del Salto. It is built in the Gothic style, stands on the edge of a cliff, and is surrounded by a rather picturesque mountainous area. Not far from it, the Tequendama waterfall carries its stormy waters.

Built-in 1927, the hotel was in great demand, but then difficult times came and in 1990 it was closed. Like any abandoned dwelling, the hotel began to rapidly deteriorate and darken. A gloomy abandoned place, like a magnet, began to attract suicides. There are legends that their souls live in the rooms of an abandoned hotel.

The abandoned resort of San Ji is located on the island of Taiwan. This prestigious resort was built in the 1980s for wealthy buyers. The shape of the houses resembles UFO saucers, and the entire infrastructure is saturated with ideas from the alien community. But due to the outbreak of the crisis and mystical events on the construction, the resort never opened.

According to rumors, many builders died of incomprehensible diseases, were injured from accidents. The locals decided: the place of the resort is cursed – this is the abode of evil spirits. Blood Falls is located in Antarctica. The blood-red stream is fed by the lake of the Taylor Glacier. For the first time, they started talking about this phenomenon at the beginning of the 20th century. Griffith Taylor, who discovered this miracle in 1911, suggested that algae in the lake under the glacier give this color to the water. After research, scientists found out that the oldest tiny organisms are present in the water. These microorganisms are more than one and a half million years old.

The water in the bloody waterfall contains iron and a large amount of salt. Its salinity is an order of magnitude higher than the salinity of ocean water.
